Biker Jacket: a must have for warm weather riding

PRLog (Press Release) – Jul 20, 2009 – Many experienced motorcycle riders know that at some time in their riding career, they will be forced to lay their bikes down and take a slide. They may experience some tumbling, but the impact damage is not as extensive as the abrasion damage. This is referred to as "road rash", and has been described as some of the most painful, slowest healing injuries around. Even with that in mind, the warm weather will prompt these same riders to leave off their jackets when they ride as a matter of comfort.
Although they are fashionable, the main purpose of a biker jacket is to protect against abrasive injury, and also as a guard against environment. The main two materials seen in the majority of jackets is leather and Cordura.
Cordura is a material that is similar to Kevlar, and has been shown to be able to withstand abrasion on the same level as most leather. For riders, these types will also have a extra coating of Teflon for greater protection. Often resembling a windbreaker, these are lighter in weight while still providing cooling and protection.
Modern leather jacket styles are being made with vents in the design to also provide  relief from the heat while riding.
It's not necessary to give up safety for comfort any longer when it comes to biker jackets.
