Rypos and Utility Trailer Sales Provide CARB Inspectors TRU Regulation Information and Diesel Pa

PRLog (Press Release) – Aug 13, 2009 – Rypos, Inc. and Utility Trailer Sales of Southern California recently provided 25 Air Resources Board (ARB) inspectors in California with a demonstration of diesel particulate filters in conjunction with a review of the new California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulations for TRUs set to go into effect later this year. ARB inspectors will be responsible for monitoring compliance with the new regulations for all reefers traveling in and through California starting with checking for compliance with the August 1, 2009 deadline for all owner/operators to register their TRU unit with the State.
The new regulation requires all refrigerated trailers and bobtail units that operate in California and that are more than seven years old, to be modified or replaced to reduce particulate matter emissions. Depending on the model year of the reefer unit, the unit manufacturer and the model year of the engine, it is possible to modify a non-compliant refrigeration unit to meet the new regulation by adding a diesel particulate filter. The RYPOS DPF/LETRU and the Proventia FTF and Bobtail FTF, both exclusively distributed in North American by Rypos, enable TRU fleet owners to retrofit their fleets of Carrier and Thermo King TRUs.
