Dadnab is a transit texting application that enables riders to obtain schedule information from their mobile phones. A user of the service sends a text message with an origin, destination, and optional departure time. Moments later, Dadnab replies with the most convenient itinerary for reaching the destination by public transportation.
Roger L. Cauvin, who created and operates the service, accepted the award.
"Not knowing what bus or train to take is a major 'fear factor' that keeps people from using public transportation. With Dadnab, both new and existing transit riders can rest assured they will get the schedule information they need while they are on the go," says Cauvin.
"By eliminating barriers to transit use and improving the rider experience, Dadnab increases ridership and reduces dependency on the automobile," continues Cauvin.
Dadnab is based in Austin but operates in nine other regions, including the San Francisco Bay Area, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Portland, Seattle, Southern California, and the New York/New Jersey/Connecticut tri-state area.
